What on earth have I been up to....

I've been a little heart sick and distracted lately.
I found out that my sweet little girl Sydney has canine nasal cancer while we were in Florida for Spring Break.
I was sure that they had it wrong.....that she was just fine....she just had a nose bleed every now and then.
But, in the weeks that we've been home she is progressively getting worse.
She has terrible sneezing fits which makes her nose bleed so much it's staggering.

The worse part is she's just fine most of the day......barking at the mailman.....getting excited when someone comes home.....she wags her tail at me when I ask her if she's a good girl.
And then the sneezing fits hit and my heart breaks.

I've been doing a little research on-line and I'm shocked to find so many stories just like ours.
I had no idea that this was a condition that plagued dogs.
At this point I've made peace with my decision to make her as comfortable as I can with our vet's help and we will enjoy all the days we have left together.

We have our good days and our bad days.  Right now she is sleeping soundly and I'm trying to get my heart back into my stitching.
I've started a new sampler that I'm so excited about.  It's my big ol' white farmhouse at Hollyberry Farm wrapped in flag bunting.  It's going to be amazing.  And I think it might just be the thing that will help heal my heart.

And you will all never believe what has slipped under my radar.....MY BOOK IS READY.
I mean it's printed and in the warehouse ready to go....WOW
Oh my gosh.....I can't believe it.
It is beautiful thanks to my wonderful photographer and my editor....and all the great people at Kansas City Star.

'My name is Lydia.....Inspirations from a Schoolgirl's Sampler'
here are just a couple pics from the book

So, if you'd like to have a signed copy I will have a limited number available.
They are $27.95 plus travel.
Just email me....I'd love to hear from you.

Thank you all for being patient with me...I appreciate your kindness and friendship.

Happy Stitching My Friends

Dear Stacy, I've just read your blog and I'm so very sorry to read about Sydney; it's heartbreaking. I've never even heard of this type of cancer; what a damnable disease cancer is. I know you'll make the most of the time you have left but I also know that there'll always be a cloud over your head - I went through this with my beautiful little cocker spaniel, Honey. You are in my thoughts far away in France. Much love to you both, Sue.

Thank you my friends. Your kind words are so comforting to us. And your friendship is much appreciated!!
These furry little babies that we welcome into our homes become part of our lives and our hearts. They make us better people but sometimes break our hearts.
Sydney and I are so thankful to have so many great friends.

Smiles,
Stacy & Sydney

I'm so sorry to hear about Sydney. Our beloved Snowball (a black mini schnauzer) was very ill with a tumor wrapped round her heart. On her last day, my DH took her for a walk and said his good-byes. He cried the whole walk but it was a wonderful way for them to spend their last day together. We still miss her but she brought us such joy as I know your Sydney has for you. My thoughts are with you and I'm sending you lots of (((hugs))).

Dear Stacy, I can't tell you how sorry I am to hear about Sydney. My heart breaks for you as I know, from very recently, what it is like to lose a dear companion. I just love Sydney's face on the picture you show us and I know she is just precious. Hang in there my friend. I don't think anything can quite comfort you through this time, you just have to push through it. Spend as much time as you can with her and cherish the moments and her love. You are in my prayers. Give Sydney a belly rub for me.

So sorry to hear about your baby, Sydney. You will be in our thoughts and prayers. Enjoy every min. you have left with her. I've been in your shoes more times than I care to count over the past four yrs. It's so hard. The little things that trigger a happy thought about something that they had done that made you just laugh, or remembering the things that they loved to do are so special! Hang in there.
